WELCOME TO GK EXPEDITIONS!
Gary has endless energy for skiing. Although Gary says all snow and any type of skiing is great , he now favours mountain ski touring. He has traversed Denali (Mt. McKinley) and the Southern Patagonian Ice Cap on skis and done numerous ski descents in North America and New Zealand. His last ski adventure was in India March-May 2008 (see photo pages). His still to be skied list keeps growing! Learning to backcountry telemark ski in 1981 in New England got Gary into ice climbing. That lead to a passion for rock and alpine climbing that has grown ever since. He has climbed and guided in Canada, Alaska, Europe Mexico, lower USA states, Pakistan, South America, Antarctica, Australia and New Zealand. From 1995 to 2003 he worked seasonally with the Australian Antarctic Program as a field leader and trainer for remote area science programs. His friends joke that although he built a lovely solar home in Hobart Tasmania, he spends most of his time away living in a ship, mountain hut, tent or car! His base is now Wanaka, New Zealand where he is a heli ski guide (July-September) and Alpine guide and instructor (December-February). That leaves the rest of the year to pursue these passions and help others experience and enjoy mountains around the world.
